Furniture: Adorable 3 drawer chest

This piece is just sweet. I am not sure whether to call it a dresser or chest? I painted it in provence and white and the handles I found at a reuse it store. I think they compliment it wonderfully. The drawers are chippy and distressed which I love. Enjoy!

"Gabriel appeared to her and said, 'congratulations, favored lady! The Lord is with you.'...
Mary said, 'I am the Lord's servant, and I am willing to do whatever he wants. May everything you said come true."
Luke 1:28, 38

As Christmas is approaching I think of the story of Mary's visitation with Gabriel. Here is a girl, very young, being told she is highly favored by God. And straight from an angel's lips, so it must be true. How God looked upon Mary is how I want Him to look upon me. She must have been a very righteous girl and one who searched for the Lord. I often wonder how the Lord sees me. To be considered righteous before the Lord is a great honor. I never want to take the gift of salvation lightly or cheaply. Every day I have a choice, I choose how I relate to others, I choose the words I speak, I choose if I spend time with my Savior. And I choose how I respond in any situation. I believe the decisions I make today either lead me closer or further away from the Lord tomorrow. It is my choice to respond to his invitation. The other part I love about Mary is her response to Gabriel. She must have had a great trust and faith in God. When the Lord asks things of me, may my response be every time, "I am your servant. I am willing to do whatever you want." How such statements must please His heart. One day I hope to walk in that simple trust and obedience just as Mary did; despite the consequences.

Furniture: Dresser

Price: $90
My latest:) I painted it with milk paint again. It was a slate color and a white. I sanded and distressed and finished with a nice wax. The knobs are original with the piece. It is probably more suited for a girls room:)

Outlaw- Mark Mathis

"Open up the doors
 turn the lights on
 hear the love song
 pick it up again

 I'm an outlaw
 running from you
 come arrest me
 I surrender to you

 though you slay me
 I will trust  you
 though offended
 I will cling to you

 'cause I want to
 be a witness
 of your power
 and your goodness"
OUTLAW by Mark Mathis

Whenever I hear this song it quickens my spirit. Especially the verse "though you slay me I will trust you, though offended I will cling to you". These are the words I want to be able to speak every time something maddening or confusing happens. I want that to be my anthem. Because no matter the circumstance I am in it won't change the fact that God is still good. And how I want to be a witness to that power and goodness. God is so faithful to our hearts; we are all outlaws running from Him and yet I do want Him to find me and arrest me. I need answers so often and I think God just wants to give me Himself instead. The answers usually come later when I am not even looking for them. I fear there will be many more times I am offended by something God did or didn't do but I will hopefully choose to cling to Him because He is the answer.

This dry sink was painted with white and a light blue color. The edges were distressed and it was finished with a wax. I think it is such a quaint decorative piece.

A good book.

This week I had a birthday:) And I got a good book as a gift. I am the type of person who loves to read and have tons of books. Old books especially. I just love those old hardbacks. They bring me such happiness. My amazon wishlist is full of books.. I actually had to go on and remove some because it was starting to overwhelm me. The book I received was Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurmard. It is an allegory; another thing I love! I just wanted to leave a small excerpt from this great book.
" I must tell you a great truth, Much-Afraid, which only the few understand. All the fairest beauties in the human soul, its greatest victories, and its most splendid achievements are always those which no one else knows anything about, or can only dimly guess at. Every inner response of the human heart to Love and every conquest over self-love is a new flower on the tree of Love. Many a quiet, ordinary, and hidden life, unknown to the world, is a veritable garden in which Love's flowers and fruits have come to such perfection that it is a place of delight where the King of Love himself walks and rejoices with his friends." -Hinds Feet on High Places. Hannah Hurnard.

Deeper, deeper still....

I was made for intimacy with you. Deeper and deeper still. My heart burns for such things. I want to taste your ever-lasting pleasures. How I want to live in your presence and see your glory. You say it is already mine. And somehow I still remain in my limited reality. Help me break through my unbelief and take me up to you. I know and say that you are good and now I need to actually taste it and feel it. Take me deeper, show me more. The deepness is scary and unknown Jesus, but my spirit is longing to be fed by you. Bring me the all surpassing joy! Of knowing and loving you. I want it to be mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Everything wrapped up with you. Please don't release me. Don't let me miss it Lord. Pursue me until it breaks open. I want to hear you call me beloved and to look on me with pleasure. And to speak to me about things on your heart. Bring me into your courts to worship you. I ask to be shown you. You are so kind to me. Thank you for purchasing me. I want to live a life that chooses you every time. Who loves you with deep joy and devotion. One who doesn't count the cost but with joy sacrifices all. Set my heart ablaze with love. Love for you, delight in you. Reveal to me who it is I serve.

Unique Green Table

A very unique find. I painted it green; my first go with milk paint. I think it worked out well. There is some white showing through the distressed parts of the paint. I sanded the top and stained it. A new knob was found and it compliments the piece nicely. I also laid fabric inside the drawer to finish it off. Price $40

Square Table

This is a nice square table that was painted in old white and distressed of course:) I sanded the top and stained it a red mahogany. I think it turned out great. If you are ever interested in a piece let me know! Thanks. Price $45

New small Dresser, Mirror, Sign, etc.

A few weeks ago, my mom and I went to an auction. It was the first time I did any bidding; and I admit I was a little intimidated. But I got a good couple pieces to transform. Here is one. A small dresser that I painted with the colors provence and cream. I added a stencil between the knobs. And finished the top with a dark stain.

Here is a mirror I purchased at the auction too. I painted it old white and distressed the edges. It is an old mirror so I liked how it came out antique looking.

If you know me well, you know I have a love for good quotes. I have small notebooks full of them. And I wanted to make a sign using one. So I got some wood, sanded, cut and stained them. The quote is from Emily Dickinson.

And finally here is something new. I also like to take pretty pictures. So I have been thinking about how I can do something different with them instead of just frames. This is a molding piece from Lowes that I painted and distressed and added my picture too. I thought it was a cool decorative piece you could hang or just set up alone.

More dressers, dry sink, signs, table, chairs coming! Thanks for perusing.
